COURSE OVERVIEW
Title: Law & Order: ABA Special Victims Unit: Mandated Reporting for RBTs Duration: 120 minutes (2 hours) Audience: Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), Behavior Technicians (BT), Applied Behavior Analysis Technicians (ABAT, International Behavior Therapist (IBT)
Learning Objectives: By the end of this PDU, RBTs will be able to:
- Identify when they have a legal obligation to report suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation
- Recognize indicators of abuse across multiple types and contexts
- Distinguish between reasonable suspicion and proof
- Respond appropriately to a child’s disclosure without conducting their own investigation
- Execute the mandated reporting process according to state law and organizational policy
- Document observations objectively and professionally
- Apply mandated reporting decision-making to ABA-specific contexts (home, school, telehealth)
- Protect their own well-being while fulfilling their reporting responsibility
