QABA® Credentialing — ABAT®

The Qualified Applied Behavior Analysis Credentialing Board (QABA®) is an internationally-accredited credentialing agency dedicated to ensuring the highest standard of care among professionals providing ABA services for individuals with autism spectrum disorders and related disabilities.

Outside the Box Trainings is proud to offer QABA®-aligned training for the Applied Behavior Analysis Technician (ABAT®) credential — built for the real people doing the real work.

🙋🏽 Am I Eligible?

✦ You must be at least 18 years old

✦ You must hold a high school diploma or national equivalent

That’s it. No college degree required. No prior ABA experience required. If you work with individuals with autism, developmental differences, or related disabilities — this credential was made for you.

Your Path to the ABAT® Credential

Enroll in Your Training

Start the Outside the Box Trainings ABAT® Pathway. Your 40-hour, 10-module program is self-paced and on-demand — built to fit your schedule, not the other way around.

Your coursework must include at least 3 hours in Ethics and 5 hours in Autism Core Knowledge, and must be completed within 5 years.

Earn Your Certificate of Completion

Finish all 10 modules and receive your Certificate of Completion. This is a required document for your QABA® credential application.

Complete Your Supervised Fieldwork

15 hours of supervised fieldwork must be completed to finalize the ABAT® credential. Your supervisor will verify your hours through QABA®’s online verification system, confirming 1 hour of supervision for every 10 hours of independent fieldwork.

Your supervisor must be a QBA, QASP-S, BCBA, BCBA-D, or BCaBA in good standing.

Submit Your Application

Your application will require a criminal background check, one professional recommendation, and your supervisor’s information for fieldwork verification.

Pass the QABA® Exam

The ABAT® exam includes 125 multiple-choice questions. You’ll receive a pass/fail result immediately after completing it. The exam fee is $125 USD, which includes enrollment, proctoring, and the initial exam attempt.

The examination process is arranged directly through QABA® — not through Outside the Box Trainings. Visit QABA.com to register.

Get Credentialed

Once QABA® verifies your passing score and reviews your application, you’re officially an ABAT®. Welcome to the field.

Renewal is required every 2 years and includes 12 CEUs with at least 1 hour in ethics.
