IBAO® Credentialing — IBT®
The International Behavior Analysis Organization (IBAO®) is dedicated to ensuring ethical practices, protecting consumers, and maintaining appropriate educational standards in the field of ABA around the world. IBAO® has a diverse group of Behavior Analysts from more than 60 different countries on 5 continents who make up the IBAO® Professional Advisory Board.
Outside the Box Trainings is proud to offer IBAO®-aligned training for the International Behavior Therapist (IBT®) credential — built for professionals supporting individuals across the globe.
✦ What Is an IBT®?
IBT®s around the world provide behavioral services in a variety of settings and to a variety of clients. Most IBT®s work with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders, developmental or other disabilities, and those who require additional support with language development, challenging behavior, daily life skills, social skills, and learning supports. IBT®s are typically hands-on, front-line therapists who deliver behavioral services directly to clients.
The IBT® is an internationally recognized credential — making it a strong option for professionals working outside the U.S. or anyone looking for a globally portable certification in ABA.
🙋🏽 Am I Eligible?
There are no college degree requirements for the IBT® credential. If you work with individuals with autism, developmental differences, or related disabilities — this credential was built for you.
Your Path to the IBT® Credential
1
Register as an IBT® Candidate

Register directly at theibao.com to create your candidate account before enrolling in training.
2
Enroll in Your Training

This course is offered independent of the IBAO®.
3
Earn Your Certificate of Completion
Finish all 10 modules and receive your Certificate of Completion. This is a required document for your IBT® credential application.
4
Complete Your Supervised Practice Hours
Heads up: You can take the 40-hour training first, but you must register with IBAO® ($120) before your supervised practice hours can begin counting. Don’t wait too long — the 24-month clock starts at registration. Register early so your hours count from day one.

Your supervisor must be registered with IBAO® and meet their supervisor requirements. Your supervisor can be a credentialed behavior analyst in good standing — including a BCBA®, QABA®, or state-licensed behavior analyst.

Supervised practice hours must be arranged independently. Outside the Box Trainings provides your coursework and certificate — your employer or supervisor coordinates your fieldwork.
5
Pass the IBT® Exam

The examination process is arranged directly through IBAO® — not through Outside the Box Trainings. Visit theibao.com to manage your candidate account.
